Michael’s Cause fundraising events include a Spring Dinner Dance Gala which plays host to over 800 attendees. An annual fall time Step for a Cure 5k Run and walk as well as being a sponsor in the TCS NYC Marathon. In addition, several other smaller community based events take place throughout the year.

Step Up for a Cure: Join Michael’s Cause 5k Run & Walk!
Lace up your sneakers and join us for the Michael’s Cause Step for a Cure 5k Run & Walk! This exciting event, held on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, brings together runners, walkers, families, and friends in a powerful stride towards a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a casual walker, there’s a place for you at this event. The scenic 5k course in Staten Island, NY is perfect for pushing your limits or enjoying a leisurely stroll for a good cause.
Every step you take makes a difference. All proceeds from the Step for a Cure 5k Run & Walk will directly fund critical medical and scientific research for a cure for DMD. This disease weakens muscles over time, and Michael’s Cause is dedicated to finding treatments and ultimately, a cure, to give hope to children and families battling DMD.
Together, we can conquer DMD, one step at a time!

2024 NYC Marathon
Join the Michael’s Cause team and participate in the 2024 NYC Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, November 3, 2024. Michael’s Cause is dedicated to raising awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, channeling all funds towards cutting-edge medical and scientific research for improved treatments and a potential cure. Typically, individuals affected by Duchenne experience a loss of the ability to walk between the ages of 8 and 12.
Be a part of our team in 2024 and run in solidarity with those who face challenges in running and walking. This marks the 7th consecutive year that Michael’s Cause proudly sponsors the race. Runners will secure entry into the marathon and receive the NY Road Runners online training program, along with exclusive Michael’s Cause running apparel.
Participants are required to raise $4000 by utilizing social media and other donation platforms. To further support your fundraising endeavors, we will organize a raffle. The Disco Deck Party Boogeyed Down for a Cure!
More than 300 guests turned back the clock at the Grand Oaks Country Club for a night of dazzling disco and unwavering support for Michael’s Cause! On June 21st, 2024, the Disco Deck Party pulsated with iconic anthems, dazzling lights, and an electrifying atmosphere thanks to the incredible sounds of Disco Unlimited.
Guests reveled in a vibrant atmosphere, indulging in an exquisite buffet and open bar while grooving to the music. This unforgettable night wasn’t just about reliving the past – it was about raising crucial funds and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
A huge thank you to the Grand Oaks Country Club for hosting this fantastic event! Together, we made a significant difference for Michael’s Cause. Stay tuned for future events where you can join the fun and fight for a cure!
